The Best Robot Hoover
The best robot vacuum can vacuum and mop your floors without having to be involved. It also leaves clean. Its price is affordable and its high-end functions (such as dirt detector) are both positives.
Examine your robot's brush frequently for tangled debris and hair. Clean them as needed. Some models will automatically empty their onboard dustbin into a larger bin in the base, which decreases the amount of fine dust that is released into the air.
1. Roomba Q5 pro
The Q5 Pro, and its more expensive cousin the Q7 Max Series are among the most powerful robotic vacuums we've examined. They feature motors that are top-of-the class and can handle up to 5,500 Pascals. Like other premium iRobot models (including the top-rated model), they use smart mapping technology to design detailed floor plans and avoid common obstacles like cords and furniture legs. They also feature carpet boost, a feature that increases the robot's power when it detects an abundance of dirt on the carpet to get it cleaned up quickly.
The Q5 and Q7 Max Series both scored very well in our tests of floors with no carpet and are especially adept at cleaning dog hair. They do have some flaws, however, that prevent them from being our first choice. For one, the Q5's navigation doesn't include AI-powered obstacle avoidance, so it's prone to getting hung up on socks and shoes and couldn't navigate rooms with a lot of people well in our tests. It also doesn't have a camera that would let it see the corners of the room.
It's still a great option, especially if you want to save money on an Roomba from iRobot and have a bare-floored home or office. It's also very quiet and you can use it when you're at work or at school. It doesn't have the edge-to-edge floor vacuuming available in the more expensive iRobot Roomba X30. It's also less effective at mopping, using disposable wet wipes that don't hold on well and aren't able to deal with dried-on debris. The Q5 has a self-emptying cradle however. If you're required to clean the mopping pad, it can be replaced with an awe-inspiring one in a matter of just a few seconds.
2. IRobot Roomba
The iRobot Roomba X30 is a compact, sleek vacuum cleaner that also has the ability to mop floors. Its smart cleaning maps and nimble navigation make it easy to clean, and effective in tackling larger particles such as pet hair. It also has a powerful suction and an automatic bin for emptying. It's the best robot vacuum for carpets, but it lags behind some competitors in deep cleaning.
This high-performance vacuum and mop uses sensors that help it avoid obstacles and pet waste. It also learns the structure of your home over time to ensure better cleaning. The app lets you set up zones and modify the cleaning schedule. remote hoover is average when compared to other models.
When the X30 Ultra is in a carpeted area, you can tell it to take off and extend its mops. This helps prevent cross contamination. The flex arm is perfect for getting under furniture that is low and along baseboards. It doesn't perform as well on the washboard as our other Editors' Choice Picks, the Ecovacs Ozmo N8Pro+ and the iRobot Combo j9+.
During testing, X30 Ultra was the quickest robot vacuum/mop that could sweep the entire house with just 66 percent of its battery remaining. It also did an excellent job cleaning a range of floors and rooms with different flooring types, including certain area rugs. Its obstacle detection was great, and it avoided fake dog turds, socks, shoes, and bundles of cables.
It's more expensive than iRobot Combo v9+ or iRobot Roomba j9+ but it has superior suction and an onboard bin that automatically empties into the base. It also supports voice commands through Amazon Alexa and Google Assistant. It even cleans the floor after vacuuming this feature, which we've not seen on other robotic vacuum/mop combos.
3. Roomba X40 from iRobot
The robot vacuum and mop combination features a sleek, circular design that appears more like the regular Roomba model than the bulky models of the competitors. It is one of our most attractive robot vacuums. iRobot's latest flagship model also is its most advanced and has advanced features like Enhanced Dirt Detection Technology as well as future compatibility with Matter (another company's robot that can wash its own mop pads).
It's also the sole robot vacuum/mop to score an absolute 10 out of 10 in our tests. This is due to a mix of high-tech sensors including a structured light system, camera, and a variety of lasers. The X40 Ultra was the only robot we tested that could fill and empty its basestation in a self-contained manner. It also boasted a suction of 12,000Pa and self-cleaning mops.
The X40 is, like the other iRobot products, is easy to operate. It has an easy mobile app interface that integrates with Amazon Alexa and Apple HomeKit. The only issue is that it's still quite a noisy unit which could be a problem if you run it in the morning prior to work, or at night when you try to fall asleep.
It's also somewhat expensive, although it's not as expensive as the Ecovacs X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 MaxV Ultra, both of which are similarly capable and look better. This is a dual-purpose vacuum that's extremely powerful however, it's more expensive and create more noise.
4. iRobot Roomba L20 Ultra
The L20 Ultra is a top-of-the-range robot vacuum and mop, with many advanced features that will let you get rid of your chores. The L20 Ultra is a hands-free cleaning device that is similar to Ecovacs' top-of-the-range X2 Omni or Roborock's S8 Pro Ultra. It features a multi-functional dock that can automatically emptys the bin of the vacuum and refills the water tank, and washes and dries mop pads.
The smart robot employs a combination of LIDAR and structured light to draw out the floor plan and detect obstacles, and navigates more effectively than its more expensive rivals. It also has a front-mounted camera for real-time detection of hazards but this was not reliable in our tests and was sometimes confused by power cords or other obstructions.
The vacuum cleaner comes with a maximum suction of 7,000 Pascals which is more than sufficient to do the job. It also comes with an option called "Intelligent Dirt Detection", that regulates the vacuum's power and adjusts cleaning frequency for different areas in the house based on how dirty those areas are.
For bigger homes, it's worth opting for a model with zone or spot cleaning modes that allow you to tell the robot to clean a particular area of your home by using the app or via voice commands. If you have lots of furniture, a stairway mode is also useful. Additionally, a recharge and resume feature that allows your robot vacuum to take over exactly where it left off is ideal for busy families.
iRobot RX3
The RX3 is a more efficient cleaner than you might expect from its price tag. It is a good vacuum cleaner and picked up 55% debris in our tests. (It was only second to the Roomba Q5 Pro). It also mops using a single pad and a rotating motion that is more efficient than most mop cleaners for robots that we've tested. It's also self-sufficient with a fully-featured application, and a self emptying, washable base.
The iRobot application is designed to help you navigate an exercise in mapping which collects information about your floorplan as well as any "no go" areas that you've marked on the map. You can use it to make cleaning schedules, plan a spot clean or to prioritise your dirtiest rooms to improve performance. The app also grants access to many features, such as seasonal suggestions, custom maps, and advanced settings for your cleaning.
It is also able to reach corners and under furniture better because its shape is more rectangular. It also has strong suction of 8,000 Pascal suction and combs with intelligent technology for pet hair. You can also set up a spot-clean that will thoroughly clean a specific area.
The Miele Scout RX3 Home Vision HD is a more sleek and less expensive alternative to the iRobot Roomba. It has a more attractive, Dolce & Gabbana-esque design and its twin cameras resemble cute eyes. It is capable of vacuuming, but it is more susceptible to get caught on low thresholds and is a bit noisier than the other top robotic vacuums we've examined. It also has an app that is less intuitive and has a tiny base station that doesn't double as a bin to empty.
